MYTHOLOGY IN SOAP OPERAS

The characters in soap operas, like ''General Hospital,'' embody the gods in Greek mythology. Everything that has ever happened to them has been so extreme unlike regular people who aren't predisposed to tragedies of the like. In the stories of Greek mythology the gods are prone to have sexual intercourse, affairs, etc. It's all scnadals and dramas just like soap operas; They embody every aspect of the gods to the core!

Even the title, ''General Hospital,'' itself just screams drama! By the first word, ''General,'' you get the idea that it has a broad spectrum; anything can happen! The word, "Hospital," gives the audience the idea that perhaps one of the settings in the sequence of events is some form of hospital. When one watches an episode of this show they realize that, indeed, this hypothesis is true.

People’s perception’s of any god is that they should be attractive, right! They’re superior over anyone else; it makes sense that they would be utterly beautiful. In soap operas, almost all the characters appear to be very fetching indeed. The characters in the soap represent gods simply because of their looks compared to others.

In any episode of a soap opera, there is always some form of drama, whether it be a confrontation, a struggle, a murder, etc., it all dates back to any type of mythology. In every form of mythology, there is always some form of murder, romance, an epidemic, and other situations. The writers in a soap opera always get their ideas from mythology; unconsciously or not. An example could be that the writer’s want an affair of sorts with two of the characters but they put a modern spin on it to make it seem original, when it’s actually not. Every episode that is made in a soap opera is simply a remake of stories from mythology.
