Ancient Greek Architecture

Doric

Ancient Greek architecture is definitely a part of Mythology which is a constantly revolving part of culture that still remains today. Many examples below show the use of architecture now and then.

Ionic

The Ionic style of architecture is used more for its elegance than its strength due to the thinness.

The Temple of Zeus uses the distinctive Corinthian style which uses acanthus leaves for decoration.

Its sturdiness allowed it to build the Parthenon, a temple which is still important to the Greek culture today.

The Corinthian style of architecture is uncommon to see in the Greek structures however, developed by the Greeks. The top (or capital) is seen often in Roman temples.

The Erechtheum was a temple constructed in Athens which had many sculptures of Gods and Goddesses. such as Athena, Poseidon and Erechtheus

Corinthian

The Doric style of architecture is used mainly for support rather than an elaborate design.

This modern-day home is using the Doric style architecture for both support and a simple design. This home is demonstrating how Greek architecture is still used even in other parts of the world.

Very nice. Can you find more modern examples of Greek architecture? Good info here.
